BelsaEscobar The search for missing persons is the labor of the relatives? To date, it is. If there are no legal complaints about graves containing possible remains, The State will not open an investigation, and people continue missing, will continue in that condition. It is a long process in which search procedures use to end up with negative results, without founding remains of the acts denounced, produced by the military at the time of internal conflict of our country, after having tortured and subjecting the victimsto inhuman and degrading treatments. The last scheduled date was terrible. Last Friday we were in the raid by Lachocc, a possible grave that ended with both positive and negative results. The exact location of a point was possible thanks to unexpected help from a villager, which fortunately passed through that less traveled place. But in the former place no results were available for the passage of the years; our witness, despite wanting to work, could not remember the exact place where a foot with a blue sock protruded from the surface of the earth and she covered it with stones and then watch the unknown body. This experience resulted in an imbalance in my health. I know we must stand strong against everything needed to achieve justice and truth, but it is often not possible. I hope that tomorrow, the fourth day, was able to restore me to continue in this painful process of searching for a missing loved one, whom the knowledge of his whereabouts keeps you in a constant restlessness to know what happened to him. (Belsa is the daughter of Angel Escobar Jurado, detained and disappeared on February 27, 1990).
